Local Attractions 

Rockingham Castle


The Castle is situated approximately 1 1/2 miles from Rockingham CL site. The Gardens & Castle are open the public throughout the Year, there are numerous medieval and historic special events held, see their website for main details of forthcoming events.

East Carlton Park

East Carlton Park is situated approximately 5 minute drive from the CL, or a 20 minute walk through the village's of Cottingham and Middleton.  It is a public park that is ideal for dog walking.  It is open 365 days a year with woodland walks, Cafe, Craft Workshops, Childrens Play area, Toilets (inc Disabled ) Free Parking and entry. Three nature trails afford the energetic a chance to stretch their legs.

Eyebrook Trout Fishing

Nestling on the borders of three counties - Leicestershire, Rutland & Northamptonshire the Eyebrook reservoir is a jewel hidden in one of the prettiest parts of England, it is situated approximately 2 miles from the Rockingham CL site and it is open from March until November

Burghley House

Regarded by many as the finest Elizabethan House in England. Burghley House was built in the 16th Century by William Cecil, the first Lord Burghley. This stunning house & extensive grounds are open to the Public from March to October, Burghley House is approximately  20 miles from Rockingham CL.

Rutland Water

Rutland Water is one of the largest man made reservoirs in Europe.  It is operated and maintained by Anglian Water.  Activities include sailing, kayaking,  approximately 26 miles of cycle trails, fishing & birdwatching, pleasure cruises on the Rutland Belle, it is open all year.  The South shore is located approxiomately 11 miles from Rockingham CL site.

Golf Course 

Priors Hall Golf course is located approximately 5 miles from Rockingham CL it was opened in 1967 by Tony Jacklin and designed by Fred Hawtree, one of Britains finest golf course architects.  It is open 365 days a year to, no membership is required to play, see website for more details
